I spent the morning laying on my belly in the side yard. Starting at 9:30 this morning I began taking pictures every three minutes as the irises bloomed in the sun. I noticed them yesterday morning, and had (incorrectly) estimated that it would take roughly an hour for them to open up. It actually took two and a half hours. For me to be driven nuts by the three-minute timer I kept setting for myself, that is. It was like Chinese water torture. I'm glad I did it though. It was very relaxing to lie there in the sun listening to the birds chirp and the bees buzz.
Here are some of my favorites.
I took 55 frames over 2.5 hours. I apologize for the shaky-cam, instead of using a tripod, I duct taped the camera to an upside down pie plate.

Wait a minute...wait just a damn minute here...you mean to tell me, that while you could have been spending your time doing something useful, like making a stack of heating firewood, as in BTU's, or weeding the garden to assure your ability to eat, or even racking cider, which makes for a damn fine trade good....you were laying down, flat in the yard, doing nothing but photographing the "opening" of some, non-descript flowering weed that springs up in yards all across America...and you were engaged in this for HOURS...
Why....I never! |

We had some fog here again on Saturday morning. The hill behind the house was pocked with dew covered spider webs. I got some closeups of one.
This one was hanging on our grape trellis. Thanks to Turtle for finding it!

I'm really liking your current photo submissions Gary. I think you're developing a much keener eye for the "sweet shots" in scenery and close ups.
