Pop quiz, hotshot. There's a bomb on a bus. Once the bus goes 50 miles an hour, the bomb is armed. If it drops below 50, it blows up. What do you do? What do you do?

I would have sworn that there was already a thread for this game here somewhere, but I couldn't find it. If it's here under a different name, sorry for violating the cardinal sin of forum posting.

If you've never played Portal before, you could be letting one of the most enjoyable games made in recent memory pass you by. I hate strategy games. Hate. I don't want to sit at my computer and stare at something trying to figure out some puzzle when I could be doing something a little more interactive. Portal was so much fun (it got better and better as I played) that I played through the entire thing in one sitting, taking approximately 3 or 4 hours.

The detail put into this game was amazing. It won't blow the doors off your video card, but it still has a very cool and unique look. But it's the sound where this one really won me over. Turning over turrets, hearing your "guide" comment throughout the game, and the big payoff song at the end all made this one of the neatest gaming experiences I've had to date.

It isn't the best game you'll ever play. It doesn't last as long as normal games (only about 4 hours for the initial run through). BUT, it only costs $20... and it's REALLY fun to play through a second time, or maybe try those bonus levels which can be real boogers.

Nvidia graphics card owners can get a little taste of the game for free.

The cake is a lie.

In addition, GLaDOS and the turret voices are funny as hell.

"I don't blame you."

Ah yes, what you're thinking of is THIS.

I'd actually considered renaming that thread for exactly that reason.

But yes, glad you finally got around to playing it, and even more glad that you liked it! Portal is a Great Game, despite being short enough that you (and I) could play through the whole thing in one sitting.

(I can't recall if Boogieman has played it, but considering that I've seen him (actually, I didn't SEE him - I went to bed, and in the morning he was still going) play Quake 2 in one sitting (a game that took me weeks to beat), but I'm sure you'd like it a lot too!

There are few games where I actually *hope* they come out with a sequel, and Portal is definitely one of them!

Also... Best End Credits for a Video Game Ever.

You can find it on youtube I'm sure. It's still entertaining, but sadly it's not as enjoyable if you haven't played.

Downloading the Nvidia customer demo through Steam now and it looks like it's gonna take a while. The demo itself is like 6GB, but the game does looks pretty cool.

So last night I upgraded to the retail version and just got finished beating it. Was fun, but *way* too short. Hopefully Portal 2 will be a little more difficult and longer.

You should play some of the challenges. They are a bit tougher than the originals.

Good news, everyone! More Portal, for free! Unless you played it on the Xbox. I have yet to beat this map pack, because some of them are hard as shit.
